Planning to apply to the University of Padua for 2027–28? Begin with the requirements for your chosen course and the education system that awarded your qualification.
This first article in our Italy admissions series focuses on Padua's bachelor's and master's applications. It brings together the university's published entry rules, admission dates, language requirements, application costs and scholarship information.
Which courses can you study in English?
Padua's English-taught bachelor's list includes:
• Information Engineering.
• Psychological Science.
• Animal Care.
• Biology of Human and Environmental Health.
• Economics, Governance and Decision-Making.
The university also links to its English-taught master's catalogue. Read the curriculum and entry requirements before choosing a programme.
Several proposed 2027–28 courses are marked as awaiting approval, including Management, Finance and Business Analytics. Treat these as provisional until the university confirms their availability.

Who can apply?
For bachelor's entry, Padua generally requires a suitable school-leaving qualification following at least 12 years of schooling. For a master's degree, applicants need an appropriate bachelor's qualification and the curricular preparation required by the course.
For students with Pakistani qualifications, the university's 2027–28 country guide lists:
• Bachelor's: HSSC or Intermediate School Certificate is listed as an entry qualification
• Master's: An accepted qualification from the listed Pakistani degree routes, with a minimum GPA of 3.3/4.0
The recognised master's-entry routes include particular honours, professional and combined degree pathways. Check your exact qualification against the country guide; do not assume that the degree title alone establishes eligibility.
Meeting a minimum requirement does not guarantee selection. Your chosen programme may assess subject preparation and other criteria.

Can final-year students apply?
Padua permits applications before the entry qualification has been awarded. Its country-requirements page currently sets 31 July 2027 as the deadline to complete the qualification, with possible different deadlines for single-cycle courses. Follow the evidence and conditions specified in your offer.
What are the 2027–28 admission dates?
The published pages distinguish between course types and applicant categories:
• First call for open-access English-taught programmes: 15 September–15 November 2026
• Limited-access programmes: non-EU applicants residing outside Italy: 7 January–7 March 2027
Check the selected course's admission notice before relying on a date. Medicine follows a separate selection procedure. For further rounds, consult the course-specific call and application portal.

What English language proof is accepted?
Padua's central language page requires at least B2 English for English-taught programmes, subject to the individual course regulations.
Its current certificate table lists these scores at B2:
• IELTS Academic: 6.0
• PTE Academic: 65
• Duolingo English Test: 115
Check the complete certificate table for accepted test versions and any higher level required by your course. The central page currently allows certificates to be supplied after the application, with an overall deadline of 31 July 2027; check your course's own instructions too.

Is a Medium of Instruction certificate enough?
A certificate saying your Pakistani degree was taught in English does not, by itself, establish an exemption under Padua's published rules.
The exemption document identifies particular countries of previous study and certain English-taught qualifications, including specified international school qualifications. Match your situation to an actual exemption, or prepare an accepted test.

Which documents should you prepare?
Prepare colour PDF scans of the documents required for your course, typically:
• Academic CV and motivation letter in English.
• Academic transcript.
• Entry qualification or permitted provisional evidence.
• Passport.
• Required language evidence.
• CEnT-S registration or results, where applicable.
• Any additional course-specific material.
Application document checklist: https://www.unipd.it/en/studiare-inglese-come-fare-domanda
Write the motivation letter around the programme you selected. Explain which parts of your academic background prepare you for its subjects, and give a concrete reason for choosing that curriculum. Use your own projects and achievements as evidence.
Keep filenames clear and check that names and dates agree across documents.
How do you apply, and what does it cost?
Register one account at apply.unipd.it: https://apply.unipd.it/. The general instructions permit up to two programmes.
Upload the required documents, follow the payment instructions and submit. The published procedure lists a €60 non-refundable application fee. For specified CEnT-S routes, it instead instructs applicants to pay the €55 CISIA test registration fee. Use your course's payment route.
Official application procedure: https://www.unipd.it/en/studiare-inglese-come-fare-domanda
After submitting, keep the confirmation and check your email and portal regularly. Record any request for additional material and respond before its stated deadline.
How much are the tuition fees?
The university's fee page currently links to the 2026–27 fees and exemptions notice. Those figures should not be presented as a confirmed 2027–28 quotation.
Check the new fee notice and the category applicable to your nationality, household circumstances and programme. Application fees, tuition, regional charges and living expenses are separate parts of your budget.
Prepare a budget that also includes accommodation, food, travel, insurance and document preparation.
Official student-fee information: https://www.unipd.it/en/contribuzione-studentesca
Are scholarships available?
Padua's International Excellence scholarship page currently describes €8,000 gross per academic year plus a student-fee exemption. Regional charges and stamp duty remain payable.
The published scheme provides automatic consideration through the degree application for eligible candidates and is highly competitive. It mainly prioritises first-call applicants.
However, the same page says further calls will be published in November 2026 and still references an earlier academic-year call. Use the forthcoming 2027–28 notice to confirm the amount, eligibility, selection and acceptance conditions before treating funding as available to you.

For your own planning, keep admission and scholarship outcomes separate. A place on a degree programme is not a scholarship award.
What happens after admission?
Read the offer carefully and complete the acceptance requirements by its deadline.
Non-EU applicants residing outside Italy must follow the university's instructions for Universitaly pre-enrolment and apply for the appropriate study visa through the competent Italian embassy or consulate. Admission does not guarantee a visa or appointment.
Final enrolment may require authenticated qualifications and translations. Follow Padua's current instructions on legalisation, apostille or accepted verification alternatives.

A practical way to prepare
Make a folder for each course you are considering. Save its curriculum, admission notice and requirements, then write down:
1. Why your qualifications fit.
2. Which documents are ready.
3. Which test or exemption you will use.
4. The application deadline and any later conditions.
5. The costs and funding you have confirmed.
This gives you a clear basis for choosing your programmes and completing each application carefully.
