Sapienza University of Rome Admission 2027–28: Requirements, Fees and Scholarships
Plan your Sapienza University of Rome application for 2027–28, including entry requirements, MoveIN pre-selection, English tests, fees and scholarships.
By Ali Zubair•October 17, 2026

Receiving a positive pre-selection result from Sapienza University of Rome is an encouraging step. It does not, however, finish the admission process. You still need to follow your course’s application call, complete the required document checks and meet the conditions for enrolment.
If you are preparing for the 2027–28 intake, understanding these stages early will help you organise your application and avoid missing a later requirement.
When can you apply for 2027–28?
The dates currently displayed on Sapienza’s main international pre-selection page belong to 2026–27. They should not be used as application deadlines for 2027–28.
Watch that page for the new intake announcement, then check the call for your chosen course. Keep separate reminders for pre-selection, any entrance test, the course application, Universitaly pre-enrolment and final enrolment. Applicants who need a visa may have a different timetable from EU applicants or applicants already legally residing in Italy.

Find a course that fits your previous studies
Sapienza’s published English-taught options include subjects such as computer science, economics, humanities, engineering and design. Examples in its 2026–27 material include Applied Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, Economics and Finance, Global Humanities, Data Science and Business Management. Check the 2027–28 offer before treating any course as available for that intake.
Use the course catalogue to confirm the degree level, teaching language, location and admission procedure. Read the study plan as well as the entry requirements. For a master’s application, compare the required academic background with the subjects on your transcript.

Entry qualifications: a closer look for Pakistani applicants
Sapienza’s June 2026 country guide lists HSSC and the Intermediate Examination Certificate among the qualifications considered for bachelor’s and single-cycle entry, together with marksheets. It also lists particular technical qualifications, with conditions that need to be read carefully.
For master’s entry, the Pakistan section lists a four-year honours bachelor’s degree at the relevant qualification level, or a four- or five-year professional bachelor’s degree, attested by HEC. It also requests HEC-attested transcripts covering all years of study.
A shorter qualification needs closer attention. The guide explains that a three-year bachelor’s or a two-year associate/pass qualification does not provide direct access on its own and sets out the additional study required.
Read the latest country guide alongside the course requirements before applying. Having an accepted qualification does not automatically mean you meet the programme’s subject, grade or selection requirements. If your education followed a different system, such as A levels, consult the section for that qualification system.
The country guide is available under Downloads on the pre-selection page above.
English requirements and MOI letters
Sapienza’s general English-language guidance uses B2 as its reference level and lists tests including IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, Cambridge qualifications and PTE. The accepted score and any additional conditions depend on the programme.
An English-taught degree from Pakistan should not be treated as an automatic language waiver. Pakistan is not included in the country lists in Sapienza’s published 2026 general waiver guidance. Read your programme’s requirements before relying on a Medium of Instruction letter, and ask the programme office if your case is unclear.
For Italian-taught courses, non-EU applicants living abroad who need a study visa must meet the applicable Italian-language requirement. Check Sapienza’s instructions for the test and any recognised exemptions.
MoveIN, Infostud and Universitaly: what each one does
These platforms serve different purposes, so keep a record of what you have completed on each.
MoveIN handles academic pre-selection for participating programmes. Follow the route for your course and applicant category, upload the requested evidence and wait for the outcome.
Infostud is Sapienza’s student services system. Its registration gives you a student identification number, called a matricola. Under the published procedure, successful pre-selection applicants register there to obtain their number and download the pre-acceptance letter.
Universitaly is used for the pre-enrolment procedure connected with a study visa where required. It does not replace the university’s admission procedure.
After pre-selection, return to the course catalogue and read the Apply section. There may still be a test, ranking procedure, requirements assessment or payment to complete. A pre-acceptance letter alone does not secure final enrolment.

Documents and application costs
Prepare your passport, qualifications, marksheets or transcripts, language evidence and any required test result. Add a CV, motivation letter, portfolio or other material when the course asks for it. Follow the document list rather than sending every certificate you own.
For a motivation letter, connect your previous studies with the actual curriculum. Explain what you want to study further and give a relevant example from a project, dissertation or work experience. Keep the details specific enough that the letter could not be sent unchanged to an unrelated course.
Sapienza’s published 2026–27 pre-selection rules allow up to two applications and charge €30 for each, without a fee waiver. Confirm the 2027–28 rules before paying. Entrance tests and later administrative procedures may involve separate charges.
Document verification also deserves time. Check the International Student Office’s instructions on originals, translations and evidence of a qualification’s authenticity and value. Do not assume that the files accepted for initial academic review are all you will need for enrolment.
Tuition fees and funding in Rome
Sapienza has different fee arrangements according to the applicable financial and student category, including rules for foreign income. Use the university’s fee regulations to establish which arrangement applies to you, then confirm the amounts and payment deadlines for 2027–28. Include any regional tax and stamp duty in your budget.
For regional support, check DiSCo Lazio. Sapienza directs students there for scholarships and housing awarded through a competitive application process. Admission to the university does not automatically give you either benefit.
If your family lives outside Italy, start reading the financial-document requirements early. DiSCo uses an equivalent economic assessment, known as ISEEUP, for relevant international applicants. The annual call determines the documents, reference years, deadlines and other conditions; use the 2027–28 call for your application.

After pre-acceptance
Keep following both the course instructions and the International Student Office procedure. If you need a visa, complete the required Universitaly steps and check the Italian embassy or consulate’s current requirements for your place of residence. University pre-acceptance does not guarantee a visa.
Research accommodation near the location where you will actually attend classes. Allow for a deposit, travel and initial living expenses, including any period before scholarship payments arrive.
Before submitting an application, put the course requirements next to your transcript and mark the evidence for each one. Any requirement you cannot yet document becomes a clear task to resolve before the deadline.
