Dalian University of Technology Admission 2027: Scholarships and How to Apply
DUT admission 2027 guide for master’s and PhD applicants: CSC, university and Liaoning scholarships, deadlines, IELTS alternatives, documents and application steps.
By Ali Zubair•October 23, 2026

Planning a master’s or PhD in China for September 2027? Dalian University of Technology (DUT) has published its international postgraduate admission and scholarship guidance. Before preparing your application, check three things: your chosen programme, its teaching language and the scholarship route you want to use.
Checked on 23 October 2026: the published postgraduate scholarship application window is 1 November 2026–15 February 2027, Beijing time. Applications therefore open on 1 November; the window has not started yet.
Dalian University of Technology admission 2027: key dates
- Scholarship applications: 1 November 2026–15 February 2027.
- Self-funded applications: the English-taught master’s and PhD notices give 1 November 2026–30 June 2027, ending at 20:00 Beijing time.
- CSC admission notifications: expected around July–August 2027.
- Enrolment: September 2027, following the instructions in the admission letter.
Keep the scholarship deadline separate from the later self-funded deadline. Starting an application is also different from submitting a complete one: leave time to obtain recommendations, check translations and resolve missing documents.
Which programmes can international students choose?
DUT publishes separate 2027 catalogues for master’s and PhD programmes, with Chinese-taught and English-taught options. Use the catalogue attached to the current admission notice to check your exact major and teaching language.
For research degrees, compare the proposed subject with your previous coursework, dissertation and research experience. A familiar programme name alone does not establish that your academic background fits its requirements.
Start with the official English-taught master’s guide: https://sie.dlut.edu.cn/info/1180/2485.htm or English-taught PhD guide: https://sie.dlut.edu.cn/info/1181/2489.htm. The CSC notice: https://sie.dlut.edu.cn/English/Scholarship1/CSC_Scholarship/Chinese_University_Program.htm also links all four programme catalogues.
Scholarship opportunities at DUT
Chinese Government Scholarship: CSC Type B
The 2027 notice covers the High Level Postgraduate and Silk-Road programmes. It lists tuition exemption, free on-campus accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance and monthly living support of:
- Master’s students: CNY 3,000.
- PhD students: CNY 3,500.
The stated scholarship duration is three years for master’s students and four years for doctoral students. International travel is paid by the student. Selection is competitive; meeting the application requirements does not secure an award.
Read the official CSC Type B guidance: https://sie.dlut.edu.cn/English/Scholarship1/CSC_Scholarship/Chinese_University_Program.htm.
DUT International Students Presidential Scholarship
DUT distinguishes full and partial awards. Its full scholarship lists tuition exemption, free on-campus accommodation and monthly allowances of CNY 1,500 for master’s students and CNY 1,800 for PhD students. The partial scholarship waives tuition only.
The postgraduate application dates are 1 November 2026–15 February 2027. Check the award category carefully when planning your living budget: a tuition waiver and a scholarship with accommodation and a stipend provide different support.
Read the official DUT Presidential Scholarship guidance: https://sie.dlut.edu.cn/English/Scholarship1/DUT_Scholarship/DUT_Scholarship.htm.
Liaoning Provincial Government Scholarship
This route is for newly enrolled doctoral students, rather than master’s applicants or doctoral students already enrolled. The published package includes tuition and accommodation exemptions, a CNY 3,500 monthly allowance and insurance arrangements; international travel remains the student’s responsibility.
The page states three years of scholarship funding and mentions possible transition to DUT’s Presidential Scholarship after review. However, the separate English-taught PhD guide gives a four-year programme duration. Ask DUT to confirm funding for your full study period before making a financial commitment; an additional award should not be assumed.
Read the official Liaoning scholarship guidance: https://sie.dlut.edu.cn/English/Scholarship1/LSC_Scholarship/LSC_Scholarship.htm.
Who can apply?
DUT’s English-language postgraduate notices require non-Chinese citizenship and good health. Master’s applicants need a bachelor’s qualification and must be below 35; PhD applicants need a master’s qualification and must be below 40. Check the university’s age calculation if you are close to the limit.
Applicants still studying should follow the notice’s instructions for an enrolment certificate and current academic records. Confirm when the completed degree must be available rather than assuming an unfinished qualification will satisfy final admission conditions.
Can you apply without IELTS?
IELTS is one accepted option, rather than the only route to proving English proficiency. The CSC scholarship notice lists IELTS 5.5, TOEFL 80 or Duolingo 100 as its usual minimum test scores. It also accepts evidence that the previous stage of education was taught in English and describes an exemption for applicants from countries where English is an official language.
Where the listed evidence cannot be provided, the supervisor and department may assess language ability through an interview or written test. This is a university decision, so arrange acceptable evidence early.
For Chinese-taught study, the notice generally specifies HSK 4 with 180 for science, engineering, economics and management, or HSK 5 with 180 for humanities and foreign-language subjects. Check your programme’s requirements and certificate validity.
Is a supervisor’s acceptance letter required?
The published notices mark the separate supervisor acceptance letter as optional. They also require the postgraduate study proposal to be signed by a DUT supervisor. These are different documents.
Contact a suitable supervisor early enough to discuss your proposed work and obtain the required signature. A useful first email should explain your academic background, relevant research experience and specific connection to the supervisor’s work. Keep it focused and attach a concise academic CV.
Documents to prepare
Use the checklist attached to your chosen scholarship notice. The core postgraduate documents include:
- Relevant online application forms and scholarship forms.
- Notarised degree documents and academic transcripts; PhD applicants should prepare both undergraduate and master’s records.
- A study proposal of at least 1,000 words, with the required supervisor signature.
- Two academic recommendations from professors or associate professors.
- The physical examination form and specified blood-test report.
- Passport identity page, a blank visa page and a recent photograph.
- Appropriate language evidence and a no-criminal-conviction document.
- Employment evidence or Chinese visa pages where applicable.
The scholarship notice requires passport validity beyond September 2027 and gives six-month validity periods for the medical examination and no-criminal-conviction document. It provides a temporary criminal-record commitment form where permitted. Documents outside Chinese or English need the prescribed translated and notarised versions.
How to apply for the DUT CSC scholarship
1. Choose your programme and language. Read its current catalogue and the scholarship requirements together.
2. Prepare your research proposal. Discuss the topic with a suitable DUT supervisor and arrange the required signature.
3. Complete the CSC application. Follow DUT’s Type B instructions through Campus China: https://www.campuschina.org/, using DUT agency number 10141.
4. Submit the university application as well. Use the DUT international student application system: http://iso.dlut.edu.cn/ and select the scholarship route specified in the notice. A CSC submission alone does not complete the university application.
5. Check submission evidence. DUT says a successful university submission generates an application number. Save it, review uploaded files and monitor your account for requests.
For the DUT or Liaoning scholarships, use their own application forms and instructions. DUT also explains how applicants seeking more than one scholarship should upload the corresponding forms; do not assume one form covers every route.
What costs should you budget for?
The English-taught postgraduate guides list application fees of CNY 400 for CSC and CNY 800 for the DUT Presidential Scholarship or self-funded study. The PhD guide also lists CNY 400 for the Liaoning scholarship. Verify the fee shown for your route before paying through the official system.
Allow for travel, document preparation and initial personal expenses as well. Read the scholarship coverage before treating any cost as reimbursable.
